Can We Forgive J. Moss Already?

I originally made this post because I was excited that J. Moss was having his CD 'Just James' release party at my church. I googled him to find a little bit more about his background and that's when I came across a number of blogs about him cheating on his wife. On his own website he admits to infidelity and has since moved on. He and his wife are still together, for anyone that's curious.

I am just curious why people are SO interested in knowing if he cheated on his wife??? I would hope that people don't judge Christianity based on the actions of Christians because OBVIOUSLY we are not perfect. It's our Saviour who is.

“Do not judge others, and you will not be judged.
2 For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged.
3 “And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own?
4 How can you think of saying to your friend, ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye?
5 Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye. Matt 7:1-5

God is Near

I just wanted to share something that I feel God spoke to me yesterday. When I pray I often think of God as being far off. Sometimes I look up into the sky and pray, picturing God in Heaven. And sometimes I close my eyes and look down, picturing myself alone sending a prayer to God. And I felt like God asked me yesterday, why do I pray as if God is not right here with me???
God has given us part of Himself. He first gave us Jesus, our lifeline to Him. And Jesus sent us the Holy Spirit, which dwells within us. The Holy Spirit is right here WITH us.
God the Father is watching us closely and lovingly, like a mother watching her child. And Jesus is seated next to Him praying on our behalf. But the Holy Spirit is right here =) Be blessed...

Daily Devotion - Listen Before Speaking

One of my friends emails daily devotions. This was his devotion for August 22, 2009. Another friend of mine had just showed me this passage a few days before, so it was really a coincidence that he was talking about it too...Be blessed...

"Key Scripture: 1 Kings 19:11-13 The LORD said, “go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for LORD is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

Elijah knew that the sound of gentle whisper was God’s voice. He realized that God doesn’t’ reveal himself only in powerful, miraculous ways. To look for God only in something big (rallies, churches, conferences, highly visible leaders) may be to miss him because he is often found gently whispering in the quietness of a humbled heart. Are you listening for God’? Step back from the noise and activity of your busy life and listen humbly and quietly for his guidance. It may come when you least expect."

My Testimony: Why I LOVE Him Like I Do

“I tell you, her sins—and they are many—have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.”
Luke 7:47 (NLT)

John 12:3-8 (NLT)- Then Mary took a twelve-ounce jar of expensive perfume made from essence of nard, and she anointed Jesus’ feet with it, wiping his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance.
4 But Judas Iscariot, the disciple who would soon betray him, said,5 “That perfume was worth a year’s wages. It should have been sold and the money given to the poor.”6 Not that he cared for the poor—he was a thief, and since he was in charge of the disciples’ money, he often stole some for himself.
7 Jesus replied, “Leave her alone. She did this in preparation for my burial.8 You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me.”

Breaking the box of precious ointment over Jesus Christ is kinda representative of Him breaking His body for us. When she broke the box of ointment the beautiful smell filled the room. When Jesus broke His body, grace filled the Earth.

'Catching' the Holy Ghost

This is a funny video of someone 'catching the Holy Ghost' at their wedding. One of my friends was pointing out to me yesterday that when the Holy Ghost comes upon you, IT STAYS. It's not a feeling that is with you for only a little while. When the Holy Ghost makes it's home in you, it stays. "Those who obey God’s commandments remain in fellowship with him, and he with them. And we know he lives in us because the Spirit he gave us LIVES in us." 1 John 3:24 (NLT)

Tonight we had New Members Confirmation at my church and our Pastor preached from Isaiah 6:1-8. In this passage the Prophet Isaiah had a vision of God sitting on a throne and the train of His robe filling the temple. Isaiah felt unworthy to see such a sight and confessed that he was a sinner, and so was everyone around him (sounds familiar ;-) And then an Angel of God took a burning coal from the altar and: "He touched my lips with it and said, “See, this coal has touched your lips. Now your guilt is removed, and your sins are forgiven.”
Then Isaiah heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” And he said, “Here I am. Send me.” Isaiah 6:7-8 (NLT)
I thought it was so interesting that after God chose Isaiah to reveal himself to, he still did not force His arm to do His will. God forgave the mans sins and showed him His glory, but then still ASKED, "Whom shall I send?"
